Headlines in America foster a crises mentality about our youth and schools. This makes the public fear for the future. Successes often go unnoticed.

The scientists and practitioners at PAXIS know that millions of young people and thousands of schools are achieving, acting peaceful, making healthy choices and experiencing wellbeing everyday. Low-test scores are a major concern everywhere.

Headlines decry low-test scores, loss of competitive talents against other countries, and the shortage of teachers. Schools and families often spend tons of money for scientifically untested interventions. Teachers feel beat up by news stories ranking their schools by test scores, and they feel helpless to make change.

Years of scientific studies show promising solutions for increasing student achievement.

At PAXIS, we have watched worry about academic competencies with some dismay. We know there were reams of very practical scientific studies of procedures, tools and methods that increase academic scores. The studies are well supported by experienced practitioners. Yet, we can see that many people seem to be unaware of these studies. Some of the tools and procedures involved nothing costly; many used items already in everyday use at schools but people either aren't using them or are using them improperly.

Why are these tools not in broader use?

The answer is rather simple. Only other scientists read scientific journals, and the journals are available only from interlibrary loan from major research universities. Books written by such scientists are likewise not commonly found on the shelves of the local bookstore.

PAXIS makes effective academic achievement tools available to educational settings.

Over time, PAXIS has learned how to comb and synthesize the scientific literature in ways that practitioners can use. We are constantly developing algorithms for searching and synthesizing knowledge. Some products of our searching and synthesizing are the PAXIS School Climate System, PAXIS Leaders Are Readers and PAXIS BrainBuilders/ BrainCoolers, which continue to grow as new discoveries come to our attention from our staff, from other researchers, and from practitioners.
