Frequently Asked Questions
1. On the Estimator, why are the ages of children limited to the 0-9 age population?
The Triple P population-level study data focused on children 0 thru age 8. That, however, is not a common way of presenting census data. In keeping with the spirit of that study, we used the common break-point from standard US Census data available and familiar to most. That is, children 0-9. Early on, we decided that putting up 0-8 year olds would create confusion for most users, and they could not easily verify those census numbers without downloading the complete census data tables. With 0-9 ages, however, you can verify the number in seconds on www.census.gov. There is good evidence to suggest that the Triple P training offered works for 9 year olds.
We did not include 0-17 year olds, as the study did not involve training in Triple P for Teens. It would not be correct to apply Triple P population-level data to teens at this time.
